Paul Linnenburger

Paul brings more than eighteen years of experience in complex litigation, representation of survivors of sexual abuse by priests, religious leaders, youth group leaders, and educators, criminal defense, professional licensing and disciplinary matters, and appellate and post-conviction law. He brings creativity and passion to complex litigation throughout Colorado and New Mexico.

Paul has raised the bar and pushed the envelope in representation of survivors of childhood sexual abuse by religious leaders within the Catholic Church and other religious organizations. His compassion for survivors is surpassed only by his vigor in pursuing the perpetrators and those who sheltered them. Paul's efforts have redefined sexual abuse litigation in the region and forced organizations and governments to reexamine their operations. Paul helps place Lane + Linnenburger + Lane at the forefront of sexual abuse survivor representation in Colorado and New Mexico.

Over almost two decades of practice in federal and state criminal defense, Paul has a long history of success representing clients accused of a wide range of crimes in courts of all levels, including trial, appellate and post-conviction litigation. His experience includes a large variety of cases, ranging from homicide and other violent offenses, complex narcotics offenses, white collar offenses such as alleged governmental fraud and kickbacks, tax fraud, mortgage fraud, embezzlement and even archeological offenses.

Paul's extensive experience in complex litigation serves him well in his representation of clients facing professional licensing issues before state and federal agencies. His knowledge and background in this area, developed over years, includes representation before federal agencies such as the Drug Enforcement Administration and Securities and Exchange Commission, and before state agencies including the Medical Board, Osteopathic Medical Examiners, Board of Pharmacy, Nursing Board, Gaming Control Board, Racing Commission and Alcoholic Beverage Control Division, and the Administrative Office of the Courts.

Hailing from Chicago, Paul completed his undergraduate work at the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign where he earned Academic All-Big Ten honors as a member of the Men's Gymnastics Team. He followed family to the mountains in 2002 to pursue a law degree and the legendary steeps of Taos and made the region his home. He now spends his weekends exploring mountains, trails and waterways with his family and loyal canine companions.

Paul is licensed in Colorado and New Mexico.
